Tell us a little about yourself.
I would classify myself as a high-drive, high-capacity individual. I welcome difficult challenges, as I believe they push me to be a better individual, husband, friend, and professional. I can make friends with almost anyone, I'm a straight shooter, and I live an active lifestyle.
How did you get started in IT?
I started out in development, actually. Built a few small database applications for non-profits as well as some ERP integrations. I was a full-stack developer, just at a small scale. Eventually moved into a sales role for an MSP, where I learned how to communicate effectively and speak with executive level individuals. From there I jumped into the startup world as an IT Director (and eventual VP role) for a fast-growth manufacturing startup where I learned leadership, how to scale, and how to push through when things are hard. Then, when my wife said yes to a job in Dallas requiring a re-location, my wife and I decided to look for opportunities in the area for me - which is exactly how we found Velo.
Why did you choose to work at Velo?
By and large it's the focus and value put on their employees and clients, as well as the clear drive towards their long-term vision. I recall thinking that Velo is nearly the exact kind of organization I desired to build, and I immediately wanted to jump in and get started. I have to say, it was rather easy to say yes.
