Chris Jones

Support Engineer II

Tell us a little about yourself.

I'm a Navy veteran who grew up in the small town of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. I've been fortunate to travel the world, but Kentucky will always feel like home. When I'm not working, you'll probably find me outside—I love hiking, fishing, and even a little hunting. I'm also a big fan of a good game, whether I'm watching sports or kicking back with some anime. My real joy, though, is spending time with my wife and our 11-year-old son, who definitely keeps us on our toes!

How did you get started in IT?

My journey into IT really started back in high school. I was that kid everyone in my family called to fix their computer issues, and I found I genuinely enjoyed the challenge. That passion stuck with me, and after my time in the Navy, I decided to make it my career, earning my Bachelor's degree in IT. From there, I got my first professional role as a Help Desk Analyst at CompuCom. That's where I built my foundation in troubleshooting and customer support. I then moved into a Systems Administrator position at Willowbend Systems, which gave me valuable hands-on experience managing IT infrastructure. Most recently, I've been focused on the security side as an Email Deliverability Analyst at Listrak. This path has given me a really well-rounded skill set in support, systems, and security.

Why did you choose to work at Velo?

I chose Velo for the opportunity to join a team with a strong culture is incredibly important to me. Based on what I've seen and what I've heard from my colleagues, it's clear Velo values collaboration. I'm confident that my skills and work style will make a positive impact here. It just feels like a perfect professional and personal fit.

What do you consider your greatest strength?

My greatest strength is my methodical and systematic approach to troubleshooting. I believe that a reliable process is just as important as technical knowledge when it comes to solving complex problems. I've honed this skill over the past eight years, and it allows me to quickly and efficiently get to the root cause of an issue.
